Sukkot 5778 – The Day of Rejoicing
As one considers Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles), it becomes clear why God commanded this time as a central celebration for Israel. The last of the fall High Holy Days, Sukkot contains a practical, yet vital, lesson—to reflect on our blessings with a spirit of thankfulness. It was fitting that our people were exhorted during the days of Sukkot to take their eyes off the troubles of the world and enter into a time of thanksgiving. The Feast of Tabernacles is still a great reminder to us today: “In everything give thanks, for this is what God wants from you who are united with the Messiah Yeshua” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
